 I am delighted to announce that our 4^th ACI EUROPE Small and Medium sized Airport Action group (SMAG) Conference and Exhibition will be co-presented next year with the Regional Routes from 8 to 11 May 2011. SMAG was created in June 2006 to better address the specific needs of the small and medium size airport members of ACI EUROPE, providing them with a dedicated platform to exchange knowledge, share best practices and discuss issues of common interest.

SMAG has grown rapidly and now comprises some 135 ACI EUROPE regional airports; the group has gained influence and gravitas with the EU institutions.  The programme of this event will be carefully designed by the group, taking into account not only all the challenges currently facing regional airports, but also some more creative solutions to generate traffic and revenue.

I am particularly pleased that this event will take place in Sardinia, at the invitation of Cagliari Airport, a fast growing airport that is particularly active in SMAG.  Cagliari Airport has worked hard in securing the perfect conditions for extensive networking and exchange of ideas, and the co-location with the Regional Routes Europe should provide even more opportunities for networking. The first-class hospitality promises to be exceptional and I am confident that you will enjoy a fruitful and memorable conference.
