The latest technologies are playing an increasingly vital role in the efficient management of the modern airports. The emergence of new technological and biometric solutions provides airport operators with opportunities to integrate the different elements of their operations to ensure more efficient and cost effective airport management. Technology will provide the tools for airports to maximize revenue generation opportunities and reduce costs and then keep these firmly under control. Through a series of industry case-studies this program identifies the major drivers of change for both passenger and cargo management systems and the new technologies that will deliver these economic improvements to airport operators.

Boosting your retail sales by staying ahead of the market – interactive advertising
Passenger's way through the airport is changing. Caused by different demands all parts of the passenger process will be modified, e.g. check in and boarding. Main participant is the passenger himself. Giving him all information he needs to find his way is an important tool to achieve lean processes. It is a good match that most people get used to multimedia information. A modern airport information system must be designed in accordance to this, has to be flexible and should integrate as well demands for advertising and for entertainment.
Dirk Spengler
Head of IT & CIO, Stuttgart Airport GmbH
