**Welcoming the A380 New York**

With the launching of its inaugural 'SuperJumo' flight on 27 April 2005, Airbus has taken a giant step in delivering the technical marvel it had promised. Major airports worldwide are getting ready to welcome the A380. The 'SuperJumbo' is set to delight many passengers but what will its arrival entail for the airlines and airports? With the many daunting challenges ahead for the aviation industry, the arrival of the first radically new aircraft type since the Boeing 747 'Jumbo Jet' in the late 1960s will signal the beginning of a new era for the aviation industry.

The 2 day conference, to be held at JFK Airport will address the challenges that airports and airlines ace in welcoming the new 'SuperJumbo' aircraft. In assessing the challenges faced by airports, it will examine the innovative solutions employed to solve the issues of passenger flow and services in airport terminals; extension of runway and taxiway shoulders; more powerful and versatile ground handling equipment; alternative passenger boarding bridge solutions and the use of automation. Airline operators will also share their thoughts on the introduction of this new aircraft type into commercial service and the opportunities this will give them to offer new products and services to passenger and cargo clients.
