ARC Mediation Competence Centre Presentation followed by workshop In Spring 2008, ARC set up a centre of excellence in airport mediation located in Vienna. The centre collects and studies mediation experiences from Europe’s airports and the broader international airport community, and provides ARC members and others with support in mediation process. This EU-funded pilot project examines and evaluates the needs of vocational training and education in airport regions. With these findings, best-practice cases of vocational training modules will be transformed into an advanced web-based e-learning platform, using modern collaborative and experiential learning methods. QLAIR Quality of Life in Airport Regions Presentation followed by workshop
The objective of the QLAIR project is to create competitive airport regions in which economic development and the improvement of quality of life are equally balanced. The project is an excellent network to exchange knowledge and experiences between European airport regions. The results of four short term projects will be presented followed by a discussion in small groups about solutions and innovative ideas.The discussion will include QLAIR representatives. Recent ARC studies indicate that half of the greenhouse gases in airport regions emanate from airport accessibility, with the other half deriving from aviation and airport activities. The session looks at guidance and collaborative methods to improve airport accessibility and intermodality to reduce emissions.
