This book was published to mark 100 years in aviation. Providing a fascinating insight into this aspect of history, the book begins with a comprehensive overview of how airports i general have developed. And then moves on to a look ata number of specific airports in closer detail.

On December 17 1903, near Kitty Hawk in North Carolina, Orville Wright soared for an historic 12 seconds and 120 feet in the motor-driven Flyer he had designed with his brother Wilbur.
But surely even the visionary Wright brothers could not have foreseen the speed with which flight would change the world and, indeed, the way in which we see the world, both literally and metaphorically.
Airports, of course, have played a major role in aviation’s rapid progress and this book Airports In The First 100 Years Of Flight provides a fascinating insight into this aspect of history. The book begins with a comprehensive overview of how airports in general have developed, written by respected aviation author John Brindley, and then moves on to look at a number of specific airports in even closer detail. Airports truly are a dynamic force in an industry which plays a key part in defining our way of life and our freedoms.
Aviation people quite naturally focus mainly on the present and the future. This book provides us with a chance to look back and celebrate the past as well.
