Planning Airport Compatibility - Frankfurt
Fraport is pressing ahead with planning measures for the operational arrival of the Airbus A380 at Frankfurt Airport. Several airlines are expected to fly to FRA with the world’s
largest passenger aircraft. Frankfurt will thus become a leading hub in the future A380 global network. The presentation gives a survey of the A380 status of FRA:
• Inter-dependence of A380 adaptation on an existing hub airport
• Adaptation of infrastructure (e.g. Terminal 2 at Frankfurt Airport, inaugurated 1994, is the first terminal in the world designed from the outset to handle the new generation of "new large aircraft")
• Optimizing boarding/de-boarding procedures for upper deck handling
• A completely new A380 maintenance hangar will become the home for the Lufthansa fleet.
